皇家隊先發投手連兩戰放火，旅美老將王建民休5天後，昨天再獲登板機會，對太空人隊後援3局失4分；儘管帳面數字不太好看，皇家總教練約斯特仍肯定建仔的表現，認為他苦撐這麼多局，讓牛棚獲得喘息機會。

皇家輸掉3連戰前兩戰，先發投手大崩盤是主因，維爾奎茲前天只投1局狂失12分，楊恩昨天2.1局奉送7分，讓太空人輕鬆13：4、13：5獲勝，拚出本季最長7連勝；反觀皇家吞下4連敗，加上分區排名第1的印地安人隊8連勝，兩隊勝差拉大到5場。

楊恩昨天投不滿3局被打爆，莫伊蘭接手2.2局失兩分，王建民再撐3局失4分；約斯特不想浪費牛棚人力，9局上換上第2號捕手布特拉，接替狀況不穩的建仔，把這場贏不了的比賽消化完。

王建民6局上登板，被太空人3棒亞土維、4棒柯瑞亞連揮二壘打失1分後，接下來連續解決9名打者，直到9局上被揮出3支安打、出現1次保送才被換掉；太空人這半局攻下3分，都記在建仔身上，成為他在本季23場出賽紀錄中，投最多局、也是失分最多的一戰。

莫伊蘭、王建民合力撐住5.2局，讓牛棚其他投手充分休息，可好好準備今天3連戰最後一戰，約斯特說：「兩人的表現對球隊貢獻很大。」

亞土維昨天5打數4安打，6局上首次對決王建民，把86英里滑球打成中左外野深遠飛球，原本應可跑出三壘打，締造完全打擊紀錄；不料他衝向二壘時，因頭盔掉落打到左腳，整個人失去平衝摔倒，三壘打變成二壘打，無緣成為隊史第9人。
